A suicide car bomb attack on an army training camp in Yemen have killed more than 11 people, according to a security official.
The official told AFP news agency that the attacker drove his vehicle into a gathering of new recruits at the camp in northern Aden on Monday, warning that the death toll from the bombing could rise.
“Security services are still evacuating the dead and wounded” from the site, the official said.
At least 15 bodies were transferred to a hospital run by Medicins Sans Frontieres in the southern Yemen city of Aden on Monday, a source at the hospital told the Reuters news agency.
The port city, the temporary base of Yemen’s Saudi-backed government, has seen a wave of bombings and shootings targeting officials and security forces.
More than 6,600 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Yemen since March 2015 and more than 80 percent of the population has been left in need of humanitarian aid, according to the UN.
